Essentially people pay monthly fees, of generally under 30 dollars, in exchange for discounts and access to attorneys. Prepaid legal covers legal events such as letters, wills, buying a house or a car, problems with insurance companies, identity theft, and more.

The idea is that if an occasion arises in which you require legal assistance you can contact Prepaid Lega l. In regards to simple matters that need legal review this service can save you lots of money. Generally most attorneys charge outrageous rates just for their time alone and prepaid legal services work to avoid that.

In addition, Prepaid Legal offers a business opportunity in which people can sell and recruit others to sell prepaid legal memberships. It?s a typical MLM structure and some people have reported solid earnings due to the demand of the product. However, early on the prepaid legal program came under fire for misrepresenting retention rates of its members, an important factor in people?s decisions to join.

With any prepaid legal service it is important to find out exactly what scenarios are covered in your plan. For example, the majority to do not cover tort litigation, criminal cases, and are of little help in traffic cases.

Never use this company it is nothing but a scam! Your phone calls will not get returned when you want to cancel membership and they keep on taking out your money and do nothing because all they want is your money! Never never never give them your credit/debit information.

I have Prepaid Legal. I have received answers to my questions and concerns in a timely manner. However, when I am in need during hours they are not in office, I feel uncomfortable because I have to wait until the next business day.

Other than this, I would recommend this service.

I have about 300 members I have signed over the past few years about %75 are still members with good reviews of the service and none of them sell the service. The problem with most people is that they do not read anything, that is why attorneys are needed in the first place.

You refuse to read all the positive remarks, if they are as bad as you state we would not have been in business for 40 plus years with an A+ rating with the B.B.B. you have no leg to stand on on your first point. I can find more people that complain about Ford so I guess they are a scam.

Also if you are not greedy you sign up for pay as you earn, that means you only get a % of each membership, which means no charge backs at all. If you work hard at some point the income is very large and rewarding or what is known as residual income, speaking from experience you can take a month off and still get the same weekly income. In summary you should learn about what you speak.

Question: Why are so many members excusing the testimony of paid customers? you decide to sell the service, you receive a check, but unless whomever you sold to keep PPL FOREVER at some point you will have to pay PPL back.

So If I pay a fee to join, make 50 bucks signing people up, those people cancel, I owe them 50 bucks ? but they still keep the membership fee. No one has really made money but members have complained of lawyers and their inability to help.

Substandard service. Poor advice. Counsel performs very limited service and does not follow through causing additional problems. I have paid for this service since 2000. 11 years later; the first time I used it, terrible service if you want to call it service.

Never again for me. $300.00 per year. Not worth the money.

The people who were not happy with their memberships are the same people who go to the doctor with the flu, and complain that their medical insurance rates are too high because they still have the flu.

I needed contracts reviewed and couldn?t afford $400-$600 to have that done. I found out about Prepaid Legal from a friend who recommended the service. So far, I?ve been very happy with the service and use it for my business and family.

I wish I had it several years ago when I was hit by a unlicensed, uninsured driver who made me pay for the damage on my vehicle. I couldn?t afford the repair, much less the cost of a lawyer. I think it?s worth the small amount to have the service at hand.

I cannot speak for those of you that claim to have had a bad experience with the service but for me it has been great. I don?t market the service but I have used it successfully. I call my provider law firm and explain my situation, they hook me up with an attorney to represent me in court to keep my greedy and lazy ex from walking away with everything, and my head is more than above water.

What people need to realize is that not everything with this service is free.

Example: My situation did not fall under the letters and other benefits but I was represented at a 25% discount from their normal rates. The firm was one of the tops in the state. I have nothing but praise for them.

Here is a suggestion; if you feel like you did not get what you paid for, or if your appointed attorney is being an a**, call customer service or the person that sold you the service and complain. Think of it as insurance. Most of the services that you need are prepaid through your membership.

I went to a meeting saw some videos and was close to sold on it. I did a search on the internet to see if PPL was a scam and at first found only high praise for the company. After having read and researched more.

I do not want to pursue anything with this company.

I worked for a pre-paid legal firm. I don?t want to talk bad about the firm itself, they weren?t bad guys (other than not necessarily being clear with what I was going to be doing when I interviewed.) But beyond that, they are just providing a service.

These letters they write? Theya re nothing other than a letter you could write yourself, signed by a lawyer. That?s it.

Once that letter is gone, depending onyour coverage, that?s all you get. I can?t even begin to count h ow many times where I?d write a letter to someone, that other party would tell my client to take a hike, and my client would call me and ask ?What now, my attorney??

PPL hurt my relationships with friends and demanded in me to deceive them to become successful. PPL leaders taught me that losing your friends is OK ? - Don?t get caught in this cult-like trap. If your friends can?t trust you, life isn?t worth living.

You will lose trust in yourself.

Just my word of caution for you folks out there who just thought you found the key to your freedom in life through this company. Just walk away now. You won?t regret it.

This is great for con artists and people without emotions, but if you are a good person I promise this isn?t for you. Seriously.

I?m just you have dental insurance do you call it a scam when you get a cavity. Or auto Insurance is it a scam because you feel you weren?t reimbursed enough after an accident? Making $20/hr and having to pay $300+/hr to even consult with a that?s a scam.

I have not had one member complain to me once about our service.I?m fairly new to the company (9 months), and it amazes me how people use their shortcomings or lack of understanding to criticize someone or something else. but I guess we?re in good many derogatory comments or lawsuits have been brought against Microsoft & Apple, yet I don?t see anyone turning off their computers. by the way the article said he didn?t think we?d reach critical mas while 80% of Europe has this model are to eat your words.

Terrible. They call you immediately when you request but then leave you hanging. After one letter they send you out to dry. Obviously due to the dreadful service I will never spend my money with this nonsense again. I have been a member for years and this is the first time I used them.

PPL may or may not be a scam. For those who are successful at recruiting others into this multi-level marketing machine, it?s probably a dream come true. For the 99% who never make a dime it is a scam.

I would never join into any mlm venture that requires me to sell products or services to family and friends; especially in a case like this where many of the services can be done by anyone who is competent enough to do a little research ( not google or Wikipedia) free.

I did a will on my own, i can go to my credit union and get legal documents done and notarized free. As for id theft it requires care on your part not to put all your info out over the internet. My 10 year old child recently brought home a brochure from school and told me that a lady from pre-paid legal gave them a presentation.
