Contract Opportunity
Do you have at least 5 years experience working in SAGD operations? Would you like to move away from shift work and living in camp? Then we invite you to become the instructor for Portage College?s new and exciting training program Water & Process Treatment for Thermal Heavy Oil. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting and tutoring students as they follow the online curriculum and delivering laboratory instruction face to face. Students will be a mix of 4th and 3rd Class Power Engineers currently working in the field, and new recruits enrolled in Portage College?s SAGD Operator program. Courses are offered fully online, except for 30 hours of laboratory time offered at the Lac La Biche campus.

Position Highlights
? Responsible for supporting and tutoring students from a distance as they follow the online curriculum and take online examinations.
? Instruction and evaluation of laboratory skills pertinent to SAGD operations.
? Evaluating student performance.
? Developing and coordinating practicum spaces at SAGD facilities for future students

Qualifications
? A minimum of 5 years of operational experience in the Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage industry. Experience in unit operations between the well head and the boiler feedwater tank is a must. Experience in all areas of plant operation is an asset.
? Knowledge of Chemistry obtained at a Post-secondary level.
? Valid Class 5 driver?s license.
? Experience in a direct charge role is considered an asset.
? Previous instructional experience is beneficial.
? Comfortable working with computers and tutoring students at a distance.
